Limassol Marathon 2018

Limassol Marathon 2018

About 15,000 runners will run 21 km on a coastal and flat route in the beautiful city of Limassol

Around the month of August of 490BC a messenger, called Philippides, ran from the battlefield of Marathon to Athens to announce the victory of the Greeks against the Persians at the Battle of Marathon. At least that’s what legend has to say, a legend which was the inspiration for the competitive marathon race held in the 1986 Olympic Games.

Since then, marathon races have become annual events in countries all over the world.

The official Marathon of Cyprus is the OPAP Limassol Marathon GSO, which is certified by the international federations of AIMS and AAF. This year, the marathon will take place on the 17th and 18th of March 2018 and an estimated 15,000 runners are going to run along a 21km seafront and flat route at the beautiful city of Limassol.
