Ayia Thekla Church

The apple of the Era between Ayia Napa and Sotira

Between the municipalities of Ayia Napa and Sotira, there is a small chapel dedicated to Agia Thekla. The two Municipalities state that the chapel belongs to their periphery and this is not irrelevant to the archaeological wealth that is believed to exist on the coast of Aghia Thekla.

The church, with blue and white colors and with the backdrop of the endless blue and clear sea, is built next to the ruins of the old original church dating back to the 4th century.

Discover the most exotic beach destination!

Sotira is a large village within the region of Ammochostos, in the geographical area of Kokkinochoria, at about 10 km south of Ammochostos town. It is built at an altidute of 75 metres above the sea level. The place is full of plains with a slope towards the beach. Most of the residents are engaged with stockraising as well as with other kinds of occupations.

Concerning the transportation network, the village is located at an advantageous position. At the north side it is connected with Deryneia village whereas at the northwest with Frenaros village, at the northeast with Paralimni, at the southwest with Liopetri village and finally, at the south side with Larnaka – Ayia Napa road.

Ayia Napa Monastery

This imposing medieval monastery, dedicated to “Our Lady of the Forests”!

Stands in the middle of Ayia Napa surrounded by a high wall enclosure. The church was built in 16th century, and is partially underground and carved into a rock.
There is a guest house to the east of the church, which belongs to the World Council of Churches.

An ancient sycamore tree believed to be over 600 years old, grows in front of the south gate.

Thalassa Museum

A place you must visit!

The museum is a three story building made by marble, onyx, wood, metal and offers unique experiences appealing to all our senses with its ‘bird eye view’. It incorporates seven levels and the paleontological, geological, archaeological, marine life exhibits are presented in underground showcases, where the visitors are able to walk and view the objects from the top, in modern showcases, exhibits freely placed in the museum whereas other they are hanging from the roof.

Deryneia Folkloric Museum

The interior and exterior spaces of the Museum of Folk Art as well as the exhibition of various household and agricultural tools are installed in cooperation with the Cyprus Handicraft Service

It shows how functional a Cypriot traditional home could be. The museum includes exhibition areas / rooms depicting traditional professions like "Carpenter", "Shoemaker", "Tailor", " Blacksmith", " Builder", "Barber", "Sculptor", "Fisherman "" Gardening room "etc.
In the semi-outdoor exhibition areas traditional objects are exhibited, like: a cart, a scythe, a flail and other tools, boat, grindstones, stone troughs, etc.
The museum has a kiosk, as well as a  recreation area and attracts several visitors and students. Also civil weddings and cultural events are held on the grounds of the Outdoor Folk Art Museum of Traditional Crafts.
