Your €45 will include:

The return transport,

A substantial Meze or Buffet lunch,

Wine with the meal,

Winery tour and tasting,

Visit to second winery or other visit such as to Bee and Lace-making museum in Kato Drys,

Your chance to buy some wine direct from the wineries at trade prices.

A walk round a picturesque traditional Cyprus Village such as Lefkara.

We set off from the Daxi Information Office almost opposite Bootlegger in Pernera at 9.30 am. That gives you time to have your breakfast. If there are people coming from Paralimni we’ll leave Paralimni Bus Station at 9.10 am. If people want collecting from Ayia Napa, we’ll pass through there at about 10am.

The main winery visited will be to Christoudias in Kato Drys, and this is where we will probably have lunch. One of their interesting wines is a lovely dessert wine that tastes like a Commandaria but cannot be called such because it does not fully follow the designated geographical imperatives for the appellation.

Dafermou is the other winery that we might visit. Dafermou is unique in that it grows the only Assyrtiko grape vines in Cyprus. Assyrtiko is the flagship white grape variety of the Greek island of Santorini. However, whereas in Santorini it is usually made into a single grape, varietal wine, here Dafermou uses it to make a delightful blend of mainly Assyrtiko and Chardonnay.

Dafermou hold a lot of functions at their premises and should they get booked up we will go for an alternative visit to somewhere like The Bee and Lace-making. What is more fascinating than what we actually see there is the fountain of stories and local history that Mrs Elly, the owner, recounts.

And Lefkara? Well it is a really picturesque village. It is also the setting of a current TV series on channel ANT1 called “Proti Stagona” or “First Drop”, a charming Romantic Comedy. We aim to start heading back at around 6pm to be back in the Protaras area by 7.30 pm.
