The name "Koili" is related to the cavity of the shape of the soil.

Koili is a village in the Pafos province, located about 11.5 km north-east of the city of Paphos and separated from the Mavrokolympos river. The village receives around 620 km of rainfall annually, making the area suitable for growing vineyards, cereals, fodder plants, citrus fruits, vegetables, almonds, carob trees. The varieties of vines cultivated in Koili are suitable mainly for wine production.

The village includes three churches, the central church of Panagia Chryseleousa, Agios Dometios and Agios Mamatos. The borders of Koili include the chapels of Agia Varvara, Agios Nikolaos, Saint Charalambos and Prophet Elias. There are also two ruined monasteries, Agios Georgios and Timios Prodromos.
