How to remove your acrylic manicure

How to remove your acrylic manicure

Follow these 7 steps and you can remove them without damaging your nails

Acrylic nails need to be removed by a specialist, but by following the steps bellow you can remove them yourself!

Step 1: Cut the nails

Cut the nails with an acrylic nail cutter to the natural length of the nail. This will make the process easier because you will save enough time.

Step 2: Remove the top layer of acrylic

Remove the acrylic layer with nailfile. The scratches created by the acrylic are important because they help the acetone you will use later.

Step 3: Put oil on the cuticles

Before removing the acrylic layer, you need to moisturise very well and this will be done with oil. Put oil around the perimeter of the nail, on the skin around the nails and on the underside of the fingers.

Step 4: Remove the acrylic

Dip some cotton in 100% pure acetone and place it on the surface of the nail. Wrap all nails with aluminium foil to prevent the acetone from evaporating quickly and to maintain body heat for quick acetone function. Leave each nail wrapped for at least 20 minutes.

Step 5: Gently scrape the acrylic

Unwrap and work on one nail at a time, keep the remaining nails wrapped. If the acrylic has a soft texture, take a small wooden stick and gently remove the material from the area closest to the skin to the top of the nail. If it is not easily removed, put the cotton back on the nail and wrap it for a few more minutes.

Step 6: Use the buffer for residues

No matter how careful you are, their will be residues that remain on your nails. Use a multi-sided buffer to remove the last pieces until your nails are clean and soft.

Step 7: Finish with more hydration

Apply a layer of oil to moisturise your nails. If you don't want to try acrylic again, complete it with a keratin treatment such as CND RescueRXx. Our nails are made of keratin and this treatment really absorbs the nail surface layers to make them stronger and healthier.

By following these steps you will be able to remove the acrylic nails yourself without having to go to a specialist.
