International Soccer Tournament Ayia Napa 2017

19 teams travelling to Ayia Napa - 8th until 12th of April

The International Ayia Napa Tournament, the longest running youth academy tournament held in Cyprus and one of the largest in Europe, will take place between the 8th and 12th of April, with the participation of nineteen teams from abroad. Following intense efforts from SoccerWorldCyprus, the club that organizes the event, and the Cyprus Tourism Organization, this year’s tournament has grown in international reputation.

Ten teams competed in 2016, a number that will be exceeded in 2017, since nineteen teams from seven different academies have confirmed their participation. Youngsters from Great Britain, Poland, Romania, Lebanon and Jordan will compete at the pitches of Ayia Napa, the grounds that host the prestigious tournament.

In regards of the names of the academies coming to Cyprus, these are Modern Star, Beirut FA and Athletico SC from Lebanon, First Touch 04 from the UK, Pro Sport Bucuresti of Romania, Polish Soccer Skills and Knights FA from Jordan. Five different teams will be fielded by Athletico SC, the other academies are bringing two or three teams, while Beirut FA will come to the island of Cyprus with just one team.

334 teams in ten different age categories will take part in the international Ayia Napa Tournament of 2017. The number of participants has set a new record, breaking the number of 320 teams of 2016 and 297 from 2015. A total of 82 groups of four or five teams have been drawn. More than 500 games will take place during the group stage, with all matches played at the Municipal Stadium of Ayia Napa and the adjacent fifteen full sized and natural grass pitches.

The event is under the auspices of the Cyprus Football Association and the Ayia Napa Municipality. Main sponsor is the Cyprus Tourism Organization. Cytavision is the official broadcaster, with six finals scheduled for live broadcasting. Sponsors are the Ocean Basket restaurants, Greek School PASCAL and the Pascal English School, while supporters are WaterWorld Watepark and Elite Sporting Club in Larnaca. Sports Gear and Farmakas Waters are the official suppliers.
