Rose Festival in Agros Village

Rose Festival in Agros Village

Just for a ride

Have I mentioned that I love Sundays? All the days are special, but Sundays are unique. We relax and try to do whatever we love. Furthermore, we go for a ride by my husband’s motorcycle.  It is sunshine most days of the year in Cyprus and this is actually a blessing for our country.  So, we just decide which direction to take.

We set off to Agros village taking advantage of the Festival which is organised in there every year in May. One can drive there either through Limassol or Nicosia. Both directions take you there.

Agros is the birthplace of the well-known family of Clerides and Chistoforos Pissaridis the Cypriot Nombelist. First stop for breakfast in Hapsis traditional coffee shop (To Mpakaliko tou Hapsi).  One should make a reservation before going to that traditional coffee shop.  It is a small but beautiful place where you can enjoy the view of the mountain from the window.  Moreover, with only 7 euros per person, one can enjoy a rich breakfast. Better to make reservation to sit next to the window to enjoy the views across the mountain.  Also, with only 7 euros you can enjoy the amazing breakfast of local products such as anari with carob honey, eggs, fruit, lountza, halloumi and honey ect.

After breakfast we went to Rose Festival. The experience you get is unique.   We visited the rose industry, we tried some rose products such as rosewater, we tasted local dishes, watched traditional dances and did our shopping. Furthermore, Agros is very famous for its traditional sausages. I prefer buying them from Kafkalias shop who is said to be an expert in the traditional sausage production. The traditional shop is located in the middle of the village and its opened late in the afternoon.

The Rose Festival for this year is sheluled for 12-14th and 20-21st of May 2017.

Leaving the festival with our friends, it is a must have a Cyprus coffee in Agros Youth Cafe. While i was enjoying my coffee, I was wandering how quickly time was running . Next time I intend to visit some museums and walk the natural trails. There are thousands of reasons to visit this beautiful place. So don’t miss it.
