Diving for the First Time in Paphos: Our Unforgettable Experience

Because the sea hides magic, and this diving centre knows how to unlock it

If you're ever in Paphos and the sea is calling your name, there's one place you absolutely must visit: Cydive. Right in the heart of the city's tourist area, this diving centre offers an unforgettable introduction to the underwater world - and we speak from experience.

Having never dived before, we weren’t sure what to expect. But after completing a short 20-minute online PADI intro (the world’s most recognised diving organisation), we arrived at Cydive to be welcomed by a team of true professionals. Friendly, passionate, and clearly in love with what they do, they took us through the basics of pressure, breathing, equalising, and how the equipment works, patiently and with genuine care.

What Makes Cydive Stand Out

What sets Cydive apart? For starters, they’re the first dive centre in Cyprus to be ISO-certified, with strict adherence to safety and quality. They also have their own training swimming pool (a rare find), where we practised breathing and got comfortable with the gear before heading to the sea. And yes, they own their own dive boat too, the only centre in Paphos that does!

The Moment Everything Changed

And then came the magic: a 30-40 minute dive in the open sea, side by side with a professional. That moment underwater, silence, calm, weightlessness was pure wonder. We get it now why people fall in love with diving.

More Than Just a First-Time Dive

Beyond the introductory dive, the centre also offers a variety of other programs, including full certification courses for autonomous divers, PADI snorkelling adventures, and relaxing boat trips along the coast. You can find more details and options on their official website.

If you're visiting Paphos and want to experience something beyond the typical tourist checklist, go underwater. Discover the silence, the beauty, and the freedom it might just change how you see the sea forever.
