Interview with the Owner of CyDive: From Father to Son, Guided by the Sea
The No. 1 Diving Centre in Paphos
Since 1978, CyDive has been writing its own unique story in the heart of Pafos. With international certifications, awards from PADI, and decades of experience, it offers unforgettable underwater experiences for both beginners and advanced divers.
The Cyprus Alive team spoke with Paschalis Socratous, the founder’s son, who has now taken the reins of the business and continues the work his father started, with the same passion and sense of responsibility.
“CyDive was founded in 1978, at a time when diving was virtually unknown in Cyprus. My father had the vision and passion to bring this experience to the island. Today, I continue what he began, with even greater love for the sea and for people.”
“We were the first diving centre in Cyprus to be awarded the PADI 5 Star Instructor Development certification. This recognition is not just a title, it’s proof that we deeply care about the training and safety of our divers. Everyone who comes to us, whether beginner or advanced, knows they are in good hands.”
“We offer experiences for everyone, from introductory dives for first-timers to full training programs with open water diving certifications. We also have snorkelling sessions, PADI courses, and organised boat trips.”
“Safety is everything. We were the first diving centre in Cyprus to be ISO-certified for safety standards, and we are still the only one in Pafos with this certification. Every diver, whether new or professional, is accompanied by an experienced instructor who guides them throughout.”
“We have our own specially equipped dive boat, and our premises include a pool. Those who have never dived before begin here, in the pool, in complete safety. They learn to breathe, to trust the equipment and themselves before diving into open water.”
“What moves us the most is the trust people place in us. We’ve seen people literally transform in a single dive. They come out of the water with eyes full of light. This isn’t just a tourist experience, it’s a transformation. And when you witness that magic happen before your eyes, you know you’re doing something truly meaningful.”
