Bicycle routes of Cyprus

For real bicycle lovers - 4 in Pafos & 1 in Nicosia

Cycling is a sport that can be done on an amateur level and requires only a few things: a bike in excellent working condition, water, a spare tire, a cyclist (trying to reach, at least) in good physical shape and a road or a path to grow. And like all the sports, it's something that you learn, you never give up. Something like a cyclist I confirm. And after seeing the general cycling rules in Cyprus, the time has come to look at various cycling routes as proposed by various competent bodies or by the writer.

Stavros tis Psokas - Kato Pyrgos Tyllirias

According to data provided by the Cyprus Tourism Organization (CTO), this route starts from Stavros tis Psokas and through a relatively easy 40 km route with a current vertical height of 10 meters, which is relatively downhill, suitable for cycling type speeds and brakes in good condition, ends up in Kato Pyrgos Tyllirias through an asphalt road along the entire length of the route.

Stavros tis Psokas - Panayia - Paphos

According to data provided by the CTO, this route starts from Stavros tis Psokas and passes through Ayia and the villages of Panagia, Asprogia, Kannaviou, Agios Dimitrianos, Psathi, Polemi, Kallepia, Tsada and Mesogi, to reach the Pafos, through a 65-kilometer and 475-meter vertical runway, generally downhill, but also with several elevations, all on a mixed paved road and dirt road where a 21-speed mountain bike is recommended.

Polis - Pyrgos

According to data provided by CTO, this route starts from Polis Chrysochous and passes through the villages of Yialia, Nea Dimmata, Pomos and Pahyammos, to reach Kato Pyrgos Tyllirias, on a 48 km route and a current vertical height of 130 meters, easy and almost flat, only worthy of the Kokkina passage. Along the route there are regularly winds from the sea, especially in the afternoon, so caution is recommended. A road bike is required at least 14 speeds while the road is paved with good quality along the entire length of the route.

Paphos - Ag. Georgios Pegeias - Lara - Aphrodite's Baths

According to data provided by the CTO, this route starts from Paphos, passes through the areas of Agios Georgios, Avakas, Lara and Fontana Amoroza, to reach Aphrodite's Baths, a distance of 37 kilometers, a negligible current vertical height , difficult, with some ups and downs in very uneven terrain. It is characterized by a mixed surface, asphalt road and dirt road, and a good quality mountain bike with a front suspension is required.

Nicosia - Macheras - Lythrodontas - Nicosia

According to data provided by the CTO, this route starts from the intercharge roundabout of Agios Mamas in Lakatamia, it passes through the villages of Deutera, Psimolofou, Episkopio and Politiko, the area of Filano, the churches of Maheras and St. Onoufrios, the area of Mandra tou Kambiou, the villages of Lythrodondas and Analiondas and the Municipality of Tseri, to reach the roundabout of Tseri in Strovolos, at a distance of 66 kilometers, with a current vertical height of 705 meters, relatively difficult, with a steady climb of about 15 kilometers, with a mixed surface asphalt road and dirt road, which requires a mountain bike with at least 21 speeds.
