October 1st: World Older People's Day
-Today Grandpa is World Elderly Day. Tell me, how would you describe me the old age?
- Old age, my boy, is a blessing and a curse for man. As long as you are healthy, life is easy and active. You can go on a trip, go to the coffee shop to meet any friend, help your wife and children with anything they need. If you stop being healthy, then you stop being independent. Basically, you start being dependent to the people who are around you. And nowadays that's the worst, as you feel cut off from everything! You can't visit your children and grandchildren, you can't use the phone, you can't access the internet, it's hard to watch TV without headphones. This is not life.
To understand, there are times when you look at photos from your youth age and say how you got to be like that. There are times when you think it would be better to die and stop bothering them. There are times my lad told me one more time and cried... Seeing his reaction, I knew I had to say something: "You know grandpa, we love you" I told him and then hugged him.
I don't know if that was the right answer, probably not. However, I know that at this time, it was the only thing that would help him. After all, the greatest affirmation for a man is to feel important to those he loves!
PS: If you have a grandparent, visit them often, surprise them and show them how much you love them. Even at these ages, people still want to feel important! Even for us the youngers life can go on, but a hug from the family and a conversation from your loved ones is worth everything. You'll understand as you grow up...
