The story of Old Port Souvenir Center began in 1890, when Captain Stylianos Moraris, a master sponge diver from the island of Symi near Rhodes, began exploring the depths of the Mediterranean. His passion for the sea became a family legacy, passed down from father to son.
After World War II, Captain Stylianos settled in Famagusta, Cyprus, where he and his son Grigoris continued to harvest and refine natural sea sponges.
In 1974, his grandson Andreas, a refugee in Limassol, carried the tradition forward, founding his own factory for cleaning, bleaching, and packaging natural sea sponges and loofahs.
The legacy culminated in 2001 with the opening of the Old Port Souvenir Center at the Old Port of Limassol, a place where history, nature, and Cypriot craftsmanship come together to create an unforgettable experience.
