Agios Sozomenos is a village that offers rich material to lovers of photography, while bearing a heavy story associated with the tragic events of 1964 - 74. The village that once was full of life is now a "ghost village" as a result of abandonment and its desolation.
Agios Sozomenos is located about 25 kilometers south of Nicosia, between the communities of Potamia and Geri. Its vast expansion now falls into the dead zone. The settlement was a mixed village, with harmonious Greek Cypriots and Turkish Cypriots. This coexistence is evident from its surviving buildings, where the Greek Cypriot and the Turkish Cypriot element coexist: the schools of the two communities, the orthodox church with the mosque.
