It is one of the villages of Cyprus that have been left alone after the Turkish invasion of Cyprus.

Makounda was a Turkish Cypriot village in the Pafos district. Makounda is located near Polis Chrysochous in direction to Pomos. It is one of the villages of Cyprus that have been left alone after the Turkish invasion of Cyprus. The residents left after the invasion in 1974 to live on the other side leaving their lives, their compatriots and their friends behind. The village and its houses collapse day by day.
