The art of Souvla at Melania Restaurant: Not just food, it’s a tradition

A family-run tavern turns souvla into a culinary ritual worth traveling for

Tucked away in Pafos, Melania Restaurant is more than just a traditional tavern, it’s a delicious time capsule run by the Kannavias family since 1988.

What sets it apart? Its the legendary Souvla. Not just any souvla, but a slow-cooked masterpiece made with technique, care, and family secrets passed down for decades.

The souvla is slow cooked for more than five hours, moving between different heights above the charcoal to control the heat and lock in juices. The result? Juicy, smoky, melt-in-your-mouth perfection that redefines the dish.
The charcoal is places on one side, so we have something like a technique combining Cretan "antikristo" grilling with Cypriot Souvla.

At Melania, you eat souvla the way it was meant to be enjoyed, perfectly crispy on the outside, unbelievably tender inside.

Of course, the menu doesn’t stop there. You’ll find authentic Cypriot dishes, local specialities (mousakas, kleftiko, fish like octopus, mussels, sea bass and more), and their generous Cypriot meze.

Whether you're a foodie or just hungry, Melania is a must-visit stop on your Cyprus map.
