Interview with Mr. Tim Price

Founder and artist at Fire Gallery

Cyprus Alive spoke with the founder of Fire Gallery, Mr. Tim Price. Read this interesting interview to find out more about his business.

1) Mr. Price, what is the name of your Business?

Fire Gallery and Cyprus Art Retreat. Situated in Agioi Vavatsinias. This small village in nestled in the Larnaka mountains is the new home of Fire Gallery and Cyprus Art Retreat. www.cyprusartretreat.com

Fire Gallery is a window on the street to a far more important world. For some time I have had a passion for wood art. Specifically working with root burls. These are the pieces of that grow immediately under the ground and incorporate the root systems of trees.

The co founder of Cyprus Art Retreat “Franciss” is an oil and digital media artist. Additionally we host works from local artists.

Situated in the village square in Chloe’s Kitchen restaurant it is the ideal location to view our displays, take part in workshops, and have a freshly cooked meal.

Sunday barbecues at Chloe's have been a tradition for many years and offer the perfect location for a day out with the family.

As mentioned Fire Gallery is now a joint venture between me and an extremely talented artist, “Franciss” who is an oil painter and digital media specialist from Congo. Franciss stands out as a leader in this community and he and we decided to create a project for displaced and local artists and to promote these artists. Additionally Francis is the curator of Fire Gallery,

We call the group Displacedart. We actively promote and display selected works from Displaced artists.

Our gallery is in Agioi Vavatsinias just below the church and is hosted at Chloe’s Kitchen Restaurant.

Tourists and locals are able to come to Agioi Vavatsinias and enjoy a light snack, Tea, Coffee, our home-made iced-teas and allow Franciss who is the curator of the gallery to give you a detailed tour and explanation of the works.

Our works are available as original art pieces, as well as:-
- posters that are printed in a 50 by 70 size to fit an IKEA frame (Available worldwide) perfectly and presented in a cardboard tube for shipping.
- a range of clothing that includes T-shirts, sweatshirts, hoodies, and jackets.
- Lovely greeting cards and postcards,
- A range of bags.

All of these items are available at the Gallery.

2) What makes you stand out?

Our gallery is a dedicated space for displaced and local artists to feel at home and you not only display their works but create new works in a studio space. It is a meeting place for artistic people to have somewhere that they can relax around like-minded people. Situated in a peaceful valley of citrus orchards, Olives, vines and only 10km from Kionia our patrons can spend an hour with us, or check into our lodge and spend as long as they like.

3) What is your vision?

I do not feel comfortable looking at our vision in isolation.

In the case of Displacedart and Fire Gallery we need to view the vision and the mission together. We are dedicated to the well-being of refugee artists by providing the opportunity to display their work in both physical and digital formats using both traditional and the latest digital mediums available.

Additionally providing a venue for local student artists to make day trips for onsite workshops.

Our mission is to provide potentially life-changing opportunities to artists by providing them a platform to display and monetise their art using global reach media provides these promising local and displaced artists the financial support and a fair-trade platform to start their art careers.

4) Any other comments or information?

An important aspect of the work is taking on commissions and where have gifted portrait painters as well as the ability to produce small corporate videos and undertake photographic shoots.
Examples of all of these are available both in photographs as well as on-site at our premises.

5) So, where can we find you?
