Relaxing herbs - Sleep calmly and quality
Our daily routine, the intense rhythms of our lives, the tenseness, affect our body function so much, and interact negatively on the quality and quantity of our sleep at night. We have all spent some restless nights with insomnia and stress having stayed with us for several hours until dawn, leaving us awake all night.
Melatonin is a hormone produced by the epiphysis of the brain. It is also called sleep hormone and is very important for sleep quality, at night. An adult should sleep 6-8 hours continuously, overnight. Its deficiency leads to health problems such as immune system problems, diabetes, cardiovascular and cancers.
Valerian is the first herb that can help us relax and sleep at night without disturbing our sleep and without waking up in the middle of the night.
Other herbs that help us relax and sleep are chamomile, lavender, lemon balm leaf, hops, passionflower and St. John's wort. You can make a mix (tea) from a mixture of the above herbs and add a some honey before bed.
Also, foods that help produce melatonin are cherries, oranges, ginger, flaxseed and nuts.
Add these little things to your daily routine, and you will get a quality and peaceful night's sleep.
